Tracy Aviary’s Birds of Utah class:

Tracy Aviary’s Conservation Science Program is offering a 4-month class on the birds of Utah. Class participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the many bird species present in Utah. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced birders who want to increase their birding skill and gain a better understanding of bird identification and ecology. Some basic understanding of birds is assumed.

The class will take place weekly from August 18th to January 12th.

This year, we are offering two options for the class, the in person version is filled, the you may still register for the online version:

1) In-person class and field trips (tuition: $100 for the 4-month class). This option includes weekly indoor sessions will take place on Thursday evening from 6pm-8pm at Tracy Aviary. During these sessions, Bryant will cover a group of similar birds that are in the area at that time. The following Sunday morning, Bryant will lead a field trip to look for the species covered that week, as the best teachers are the birds themselves. Sunday field trip times will vary depending on destination, time of sunrise, and weather, but participants should expect early mornings. Travel to field trip destinations is not provided by the Aviary, but we will arrange carpools and limit the number of vehicles needed each week to the best of our abilities. Space is limited to 20 participants for this option.

2) Recorded class and bird on your own (tuition $50 for the 4-month class). With this option, participants from all over Utah can watch the Thursday evening class each week as a recording that is posted after the class session. Field trips are not included as part of this option, but Bryant will provide recommendations on good places for participants to go out birding on their own to find the species each week.

This is the ticket for the online class.
